This process produces a long chain of polybutadiene that crisscrosses with shorter chains of polystyrene-co-acrylonitrile, creating strong bonds. ABS can also be created by using a patented process known as continuous mass polymerization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABS is one manufacturing\u2019s most materials and it comes in a variety of forms. It\u2019s naturally strong and rigid but flexible enough to be&nbsp;highly machinable, and it stays mechanically strong and stable over time. It offers good impact resistance even at low temperatures, good insulating properties, and good abrasion and strain resistance. Additionally, it holds up well in the presence of diluted acids and alkalis. From a design standpoint, parts made with acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic are easy to paint and glue and have excellent surface finishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;mechanical specifications&nbsp;for generic acrylonitrile butadiene styrene include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ultimate tensile strength: 22.1 \u2013 57.0 MPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elongation at break: 3.00 \u2013 150 %<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flexural modulus: 0.200 \u2013 5.50 GPa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Izod impact, notched: 8.00 \u2013 48.0 kJ\/m\u00b2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hardness, Rockwell R: 68.0 \u2013 118<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ABS does have its drawbacks. Even though it has high abrasion and impact resistance, ABS has poor weathering and solvent resistance. Also, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic is prone to stress cracking when it comes into contact with certain greases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-choose-abs\">Why Choose ABS?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These limitations notwithstanding, there are numerous reasons to choose acrylonitrile butadiene styrene for your next project.
